So what is it all about, and why does it attract us chicks and makes the guys hold back?
The reason for its success is simple, it works, you get results, its suitable for
everyone to practice Joseph Pilates routines. You maybe advised to come to Pilates
having been referred by a physio to resolve back pain, maybe you want flat abs, &
why not?
Originally devised in the early 1900's, Joseph Pilates,German by birth, came to England to train Scotland Yard in self defence involving his technique, he was also a boxer & gymnast, so being devised by a man, why dont more men take part?
I have my own theory..have you been to a Pilates class? What do you think about whilst you are doing the moves on that mat, not much as you are concentrating, you are focused, being precise about how to move, what muscle moves first, you are multitasking!
Yet its advertised, many male celeb's practice Pilates, actor Hugh Jackman, Tiger
Woods & David Beckham, this is because you focus on working your deep abdominal muscle,
called Transverse Abdominus (T.A for short!) which stabilises your pelvis, a flat
strong tum is a dead cert, as is a strong back, smooth strong sleek looking muscles..
Yummy.
Once strengthened, posture improves, your sport improves, no matter if you are a
runner, golfer, footballer, weight lifter, horse rider, rugby player, swimmer etc.
Shoulder tightness from sitting for hours at a desk in front of a computer is reduced,
opening up your chest, strengthening upper and mid back muscles, legs are strengthened,
tightness in hamstrings relieved, balance improves, breathing improves, ankles
stronger, can you now see why its suitable for everyone, from 13 to 103+, asthmatic,
arthritic, M.E & M.S sufferers report improvement in their well-
Muscles are worked, all of them, not just the big guns, but smaller ones you may
not have heard of, we use resistance at times... pilates circle, resistance bands,
weighted balls, swiss ball... your strength will be increased and tested each time,
it is never boring or repetitive as there's hundreds of moves waiting for you.
Pilates classes are small, as in the amount of people in a class, whys that? You
don’t disappear in the crowd, your workout time is maximised with the personal touch,
getting more for your money.
If you already practice Pilates, well done you. Pilates is changing your life, your
body , give yourselves a pat on the Upper Trapezious..
